Honey Wheat Bread

This yummy and wholesome bread recipe is an adaptation by Ann Marie Tipton of a recipe provided by Maretta Heatwole. The original recipe was passed to Maretta from her mom, Susan. It is a great recipe for beginner bread bakers. It is simple and easy to make. It is more moist than many wheat breads and it tastes wonderful. This recipe makes 2 loaves. I make it in a KitchenAid with the bread hook. Without it, you need to mix and kneed it by hand until it is the correct texture. The KitchenAid just makes it an easier and shorter process. Enjoy!

Honey Wheat Bread

3 c. warm water
1 TBS yeast
2 tsp salt
1/3 c oil
2 TBS honey
3 1/2 c whole wheat flour
4 - 4 1/2 c bread flour

Mix yeast in warm water and allow to sit. Mix salt, oil, honey, and wheat flour. Add water while mixing then gradually add bread flour. Kneed until dough is elastic and no longer sticks to the bowl. Pam the edges of the bowl and allow to rise and double in size. Form into 2 loaves, place in greased loaf pans, and allow to rise again. Bake at  325 for 30 minutes.
